Wex Technologies Inc. (the "Company") is pleased to announce that
it has received a Screening Acceptance Letter from Health Canada
regarding a CTA filing for an open-label extension study of Tectin™
in patients with moderate to severe cancer-related pain. Approval
for trial commencement is expected by April 9, 2004 .
This
study is a long-term continuation of the Phase IIb/III multicentre,
double-blind, placebo-controlled trial. The purpose of the open-label
trial is to make Tectin™ available to all patients who participate
in the Phase IIb/III study, thereby allowing them to benefit from
continued treatment while providing the company with data on the
long-term safety and efficacy of the product.
The Phase
IIb/III is now actively ongoing following the Investigator's Meeting
in January with representatives from more than 25 clinical sites.
The recruitment is expected to start shortly as the process of obtaining
Ethics Committee approval advances.
International Wex Technologies
Inc., a publicly listed neuro-bioscience company (WXI), is focused

primarily for pain management. The Company's lead compound, Tetrodotoxin,
