Clinical Development - Contract Manufacturing

International Wex Technologies Inc. ("Wex" or the "Company") in the execution of its global drug development plan announces the formation of a 100% Canadian subsidiary company, IWT Bio Inc. (IWT) located in Montreal, Quebec.

IWT will be the Company's centre of research and development (R&D) for North America with exclusive Canadian marketing and distribution rights to Wex's line of products. This subsidiary will also manage GMP manufacturing, either directly or through a subcontract basis. The primary objectives of establishing such an entity are to maximize the favourable R&D conditions offered by Quebec, a major R&D biotech centre of excellence, and to minimize the overall R&D cost.

The Company is also pleased to announce that it has signed a Letter of Intent with a Quebec-based Canadian injectable pharmaceutical manufacturer that is GMP certified by Health Canada and the FDA. The company expects that a contract can be signed before the end of this year. Details of the contracted manufacturer will be disclosed in a further press release.

These additions are of prime importance to Wex. Adding a second manufacturing site will ensure not only that the Company meets the requirements of government agencies in both North America and Europe but also guarantees the continuous supply of high-quality drug material for Wex's clinical trials. Initially, IWT will be engaged in manufacturing clinical trial batches as Wex nears the commencement of pivotal studies in Canada and anticipates applying to the FDA for an Investigational New Drug Application in the United States.
