Phase IIA Interim Results Expected

International Wex Technologies Inc. is pleased to announce that it has successfully concluded Phase IIa trial for Tectin™ in Canada. The study examined the safety and efficacy of four different dosages of Tectin™ in cancer patients with severe pain. A further dose will be tested in six additional patients, the first of whom has already been recruited, to further investigate product safety and assure that the maximum efficacy dosing is reached.

The interim analysis of the data from Phase IIa trial is currently underway and the results are estimated to be made public during the fourth quarter of this year. The data will help us prepare for a pivotal study protocol with the intent to submit for permission to conduct a Phase IIb/III clinical study in Canada. A pivotal study could mean that no other studies are required before filing for market authorization (right to sell). The study will further evaluate product safety and efficacy, and determine the most efficacious clinical dosing.

In any biotech company there are several major milestones that must be met in order to establish that the progress to market authorization is advancing properly. On December 5, 2000 we received our first `NO OBJECTION LETTER` or permission letter to conduct Phase Ia clinical trials in Canada by Health Canada. On August 31, 2001 we received permission to conduct our Phase IIa clinical studies. In signing a Licensing Agreement during November 2002, with our European Associates, we received valuable insight through their due diligence process, and provided additional validation on ratifying the justification of our objectives, and added to our product confidence.

In the area of neuro-bioscience, the Company is focusing on the fields of pain management, drug addiction treatment and anaesthesia. The Company is developing products that contain a sodium channel blocking compound and derivatives extracted from natural organic substances using its proprietary manufacturing technology.
