International Wex Technologies Inc., (the "Company")
is pleased to announce that the Centre for Drug
Evaluation (CDE) of the State Drug Administration
(SDA) in China has formally approved the
Investigational Drug Administration (IND)
application submitted in1999 for its TTX
pharmaceutical product.
This is a key milestone for the Company and reflects
that the CDE accepts all of the pre-clinical research
completed in China, including CMC (Chemistry,
Manufacturing & Control), toxicology, pharmacology,
etc. To the Company's knowledge this is the first
time within the new rules and regulations under the
SDA that an IND submission for a Class 1 drug has been
accepted.
The Company must now provide the sites for clinical
trials and its protocol. This must be accepted by the
ethics committee. The ethics committee must be compiled
of at least 5 individuals from various areas i.e.,
pharmacy, legal, etc. and it is recommended to include
both sexes. When the appropriate acceptance forms are
properly reviewed and signed by the ethics committee they
will have to be sent to the SDA.
In the area of neuro-bioscience, the Company is
focusing on the fields of pain management, drug
addiction treatment and anaesthesia. The Company
is developing products that contain a sodium
channel blocking compound and derivatives extracted
from natural organic substance using its
proprietary manufacturing technology.
