International Wex Technologies Inc. (the "Company") is pleased to announce that the protocol for Phase I(a) has been approved by the Ethical Committee of the hospital chosen to conduct this clinical trial in Canada. Upon filing our IND application with Health Protection Branch Canada ("HPB"), a submission was made to a leading hospital in Toronto, by our principal clinical investigator at Ventana Clinical Research Corporation for permission to conduct the clinical trials at this top facility. Acceptance was received after the Ethics Committee reviewed the clinical trial protocol and had an opportunity to comment. Acceptance and approval of conducting the human phase Ia clinical trials are subject to the final approval by HPB. The Company expects to hear from HPB by the first half of December, 2000.

Tetrodin has been developed by the Company primarily as a treatment for the symptoms associated with withdrawal from all opiate addictions such as morphine, opium, heroin and methadone. It is a non-narcotic pharmaceutical that has proven to be safe and effective and functions well in both primary withdrawal treatment and abstinence maintenance (longer term use) of drug addiction. The Company has also begun tests on the usage of Tetrodin as a potent analgesic.
