Pre-IND Meeting Positive

International Wex Technologies Inc. (the "Company") is pleased to announce that on August 31, 2000, the Company had a successful pre-IND (Investigational new Drug) meeting with the HPB (Health Protection Branch Canada). At this time, there is no request for additional testing by the Company prior to an IND filing. Essentially, this indicates that the development of the compound can proceed as scheduled and the next milestone for IND filing during October, 2000 can progress.

The Company's experts are all specialists in their respective fields regarding drugs and how they relate to safety for human use. Our clinical investigator, Dr. Edward M. Sellers, M.D., PhD., FRCPC, Professor, Departments of Pharmacology and Medicine, University of Toronto, through his company Ventana Clinical Research Corporation, will design the protocols for the Phase 1 Clinical trials and present a global clinical development of tetrodotoxin in the treatment of severe pain and drug addiction. Dr. Sellers is considered one of Canada's most respected experts on drug addiction.

Along with Dr. Sellers, other leading experts present at the meeting making most valued presentations were Dr. Patrick du Souich, M.D., Ph.D., Professor, Department of Pharmacology, University of Montreal, Pharmacology; Dr. D. Wark Boucher, Ph.D., Biological; Dr. Barry E. Osborne, Ph.D., M.I.Biol., Toxicology; and Dr. A. Ho, Ph.D., Consultant Regulatory Affairs.

Tetrodin has been developed by the Company primarily as a treatment for the symptoms associated with withdrawal from all opiate addictions such as morphine, opium, heroin and methadone. It is a non-narcotic pharmaceutical that has proven to be safe and effective and functions well in both primary withdrawal treatment and abstinence maintenance (longer term use) of drug addiction. The Company has also begun tests on the usage of Tetrodin as a potent analgesic.
