What is TTX?

TTX or Tetrodotoxin is a naturally-occurring sodium channel blocking compound extracted from the puffer fish.

Is there a reasonable supply of puffer fish?

Yes, the puffer fish is commercially fished, as well as raised on fish farms.

What is unique about this platform technology?

WEX addresses pain through its proprietary platform technology. The TTX-based drug portfolio has the potential to provide revolutionary solutions to the management of pain.

What are the characteristics of TTX?

TTX is an extremely potent non-narcotic analgesic, often 3,000 times stronger than morphine in animal studies; has a short onset time, within 20 minutes after first dose; has long lasting effects varying from 8 hours to 30 days; its side effects are mild and reversible and it is a naturally extracted substance compared with synthetic compounds.

Are there any environmental issues concerning the process?

No, WEX is in effect a Green Company. WEX takes the remnants of the puffer fish, remove its toxicity by further processing and neutralizes the remnants into a safe substance. During the process, part is separated for further refining into a pharmaceutical product

Tectin™

What is Tectin™?

 Tectin™ is WEX's first lead product in the field of analgesia for the treatment of inadequately controlled cancer pain.

How can Tectin™ be administered?

Tectin™ can be administered as an intramuscular and as a subcutaneous injection

Will Tectin™ be available on prescription?

Yes, due to the safety aspect, WEX will provide the product through clinics, hospitals and doctors only.

What advantages does Tectin™ have compared to other treatments?

To date, clinical trials have shown to have fast onset time, long duration, no constipation effects and clarity of mind as the most obvious advantages.

What is the development status of Tectin™?

The Phase IIa result showed Tectin™ to be meaningful as it relieved chronic pain in 71% of cancer pain patients.  The Company has recently terminated its Canadian Phase IIb/III trial after receiving an unfavourable interim analysis and is now reviewing the data to determine the next course of action.  Tectin™ has also been cleared for a severe non-malignant chronic pain study in Canada and has begun its Chinese Phase II analgesic study.

Tetrodin™

What is Tetrodin™?

Tetrodin™ is WEX's second lead product developed for management of opiate withdrawal symptoms that are associated with withdrawal from opiates.

What is the development status of Tetrodin™?

WEX has recently completed a Phase IIa trail in Canada.  Development is currently on hold until additional resources or partnership are indentified.

What advantages does Tetrodin™ have compared to other treatments?

Limited pain associated with withdrawal; short onset time; long lasting effects; mild side effects and non-addictive.

Are there any other drugs on the market similar to Tetrodin™?

Not to our knowledge.

Is Tetrodin™ a methadone substitute?

No, Tetrodin™ is used as a non-addictive fast relief for the primary withdrawal treatment.

Tocudin™ 

When will Tocudin™ become available?

A proper time line will be developed once the product completes its pre-clinical phase.

What is the development status of Tocudin™?

Tocudin™ is currently undergoing intensive pre-clinical testing.

What is Tocudin™?
