Competitive Advantages

WEX's platform technology has the characteristic of being non-opioid (non-addictive) with a quick onset time. In clinical trials to date Tectin™ has shown to be non mind or mood altering with long-lasting effects. Side effects to date are mild and reversible. Studies have shown it to be up to 3,200 times stronger than morphine. A matchbox of drug substance can contain over 1,000,000 current size doses of Tectin™.

Intellectual Property

The Company currently has 92 patents filed or granted in the areas of Therapeutics Use, Dosages, Manufacturing and Purifications, Derivatives, Combinations and formulations. Moreover, WEX has registered Drug Master Files (DMF) with Canada and the United States for its pharmaceutical grade TTX substance.

Emerging Products

The WEX-based TTX platform indicates a plethora of applications but the Company is concentrating on its lead product Tectin™ for inadequately controlled cancer-related pain. In Canada, we are noted as having an innovative, ground-breaking new class of analgesic.  The Company is also conducting a Canadian compassionate-use trial with Tectin™ for severe non-malignant chronic pain.

WEX has over 70 professional staff throughout its offices in Vancouver and Hong Kong and its research and development and manufacturing facility in Nanning, China.

Business Strategy

WEX plans to develop strategic alliances with established pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies with significant sales and existing distribution channels.  Our partners will share the cost of late stage drug development and will market our products in their territories.  WEX will receive upfront payments and milestone payments before the products obtain approval and share a portion of the profit from the sales of products.  WEX will also manufacture the active pharmaceutical ingredient, tetrodotoxin at its facility in China.
